Sometimes a new location can breathe life into a business that takes it to a new level of success. Finders Keepers owner Kyleen Wade said her new location in Glens Falls feels like home, and it is exceeding her definition of success.

From giving back to the community to providing a positive judgement-free atmosphere for people to shop, Wade said her new 206 Glen St. home is a perfect match.

Wade has been in business in Glens Falls for over 11 years. She began with a 1000-square-foot location on Ridge Street. The store moved several times around the city before the new Glen Street location.

“I couldn’t feel more inspired by the location. I have felt part of Glens Falls for a long time now. The new location has not only proved to be more productive but it has brought me closer to the community. There are levels to success of my business. I consider mind, body and spirit in my store. The space already feels like home,” said Wade.
Wade, a Vermont native, has traveled much of Europe and has resided in locations around the country, including Oregon, Minneapolis and New York City. She credits what she learned from meeting people, along with her degree in human services and psychology, as part of the reason for her ability to meet the needs of her customers.

At the consignment store, Wade sells new and used clothing and accessories, for which she receives a percentage of the sale. Wade says the store has a wide variety of patrons, and being able to help so many different types of people is part of what makes her feel like an asset to the community.

“I am extremely particular on who I do business with and what I accept for merchandise. All consignees make 50 percent off whatever I sell their items for. Last year, I paid at least $50,000 out to my community of consignees. Putting money back out into the community is an important part to of my philosophy of doing business. I do business with the entire spectrum of socioeconomics. Poor to the wealthy. My consignees are my customers and vice versa,” said Wade.

Every piece found in Finders Keepers has had a lot of thought put into it.

”Because I am so particular about my product, I only have things for sale that I would want around me or to look at. My product, and the way it is merchandised is beautiful, timeless, eclectic and of high quality. I carry everything that a woman puts on or surrounds herself with to feel beautiful–at affordable prices. I have wedding dresses, prom dresses, casual clothing, vintage clothing, shoes, handbags, jewelry and anything else that I think will blend into the store,” said Wade.

Wade feels that shopping should be something almost therapeutic, the reason that the sounds and scents of the store provide a calming zen setting.

“This makes an atmosphere that supports deep breaths or conversations between customers. A lot of healing and love happens between my walls,” she said. “It’s a safe place for women and sometimes men to be who they are, while not being judged. It’s a place of kindness, consideration and sometimes a resource. You could say that I am using my undergrad degree and my skills at my creation called Finders Keepers. It’s not just a consignment store. There is much, much more.”
