The Lake George Distilling Co. has a new tasting room at 29 Canada St. in Lake George.
The distillery itself is a well-oiled, family-run machine, operated by John McDougall, his wife, Robin McDougall, and their sons, Tom McDougall and John McDougall Jr. It is located in Fort Ann and has been operating since September 2013.
“All of our products are available at our Lake George location along with frozen drinks in the summer,” John McDougall Sr. said. “We are currently working on a limited cocktail menu for the winter season.”
The tasting room will be open year round.
“Along with our spirits, we planning to have gift baskets and other merchandise available for the holidays,” McDougall said. “We are looking forward to Winter Carnival and all that entails.”
So far, the McDougall family is happy with the progress.
“Business has been great. The summer weather couldn’t have been better,” McDougall said. “Our best sellers are our Bull Head Bourbon, Apple Pie Moonshine (made with local cider) and our Adirondack Wildfire Whiskey (cinnamon flavored).”
The family had always had the Lake George location in mind.
“Lake George Village was obviously in our sights from the start it just took us a couple years to make it happen,” McDougall said. “We are encouraged with the new marketing of Lake George as a 365-day-a-year destination.”
“Would also like to mention the welcoming and help from our neighboring businesses,” McDougall said. “Especially Adirondack Brew Pub (John Carr) and Adirondack Winery (Sasha Pardy).”
