The Queensbury Hotel is taking the next step in its renaissance with the opening on Nov. 17 of Park 26, a new fine dining restaurant in the space formerly occupied by The Garden on The Park, off the hotel’s main lobby.
Park 26 will feature locally inspired American cuisine.
“Refined dining is returning to The Queensbury,” said Tyler Herrick, the hotel’s general manager. “We’re thrilled to bring another must-go restaurant to downtown Glens Falls for our local patrons, and to give our overnight guests a tremendous new amenity to enjoy during their stay.”
Among Park 26’s dinner entrées will be an espresso salt-rubbed New York strip steak with roasted garlic mashed potato and brussel sprout and butter squash sauté; lobster pappardelle, with garden peas, local corn, roasted cherry tomato, and butternut squash in a lobster-lime broth; and chicken cavatappi, a grilled chicken dish with cranberry and goat cheese in a sage cream sauce served over cavatappi pasta.
Herrick said Park 26 will offer a style of service in keeping with the hotel’s proud 90-year legacy of hospitality.
“You’re going to feel very welcome and comfortable at Park 26, with service that’s traditional not trendy,” he said. “This will be an overall refined dining experience that’s perfect for date night, a business dinner or a family celebration.”
The restaurant’s name was derived from its location across from Glens Falls City Park and the year of The Queensbury’s opening, 1926.
Chef Dan Mattocks will oversee Park 26. He joined The Queensbury staff in May from the Chateau on the Lake, a fine dining restaurant in Bolton Landing.
Fenimore’s Pub at The Queensbury Hotel will continue to provide a gastro-pub-style menu for both lunch and dinner for those looking for a more casual dining experience. Fenimore’s opens daily at noon.
The opening of Park 26 is the latest step taken by the hotel’s new owner and management to restore The Queensbury’s status as a regional icon for accommodations, dining, meetings, banquets and weddings. The hotel was purchased by Queensbury businessman and philanthropist Ed Moore in March, and is operated by Spruce Hospitality Group of Queensbury, a business jointly owned by Herrick, former assistant general manager at the Sagamore Resort in Bolton Landing, and Zachary Moore, who brings nearly a decade of property management experience to the venture.
The new operators have begun a multi-year renovation of the classic 1920s-era hotel, that started with a renovation and restoration of the lobby, and will continue with complete guest room renovations and the creation of a new ballroom that will accommodate approximately 400 people.
The Queensbury is located at 88 Ridge St. in Glens Falls. The restaurant will be open for dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
