Adirondack Flames Hockey Organization Announces Season’s Promotional Events

Posted onAugust 13, 2014

Adirondack Flames President Brian
Petrovek announced new home dates for
the 2014-15 season to go along with the
Oct. 11 home opener at the Glens Falls
Civic Center.

“We’re excited to share seven new home
game dates with our fans and provide two
new ticketing options as we approach
opening night on Oct. 11,” Petrovek said.
“Our promotional sponsors are stepping up
in a big way to make the game experience
for our fans better than ever and we thank
them for their generosity.”

Saturday, Nov. 1 will kick off the Flames’
“Movember” campaign, said team officials.
The Movember Foundation is a global
men’s health charity committed to changing
the face of men’s health.
The initiative is prevalent throughout
the hockey community and many players
and staff members throughout the hockey
world will grow mustaches for the month
of November in support of men’s health
issues.

The Flames will partner with U.A. Local
Union 773 for a Military Appreciation
Night and Salute to the Armed Forces on
Saturday, Nov. 22. The night will feature
special, military-themed game jerseys,
which will be auctioned off at the conclusion
of the evening, in addition to in game
events to honor the Armed Services.

The following weekend, Glens Falls
Hospital will sponsor Youth Hockey Jersey
Night on Saturday, Nov. 29, where the first
1,000 fans under the age of 14 will receive
an Adirondack Flames youth jersey. The
Flames will also hold their inaugural
“Night of Champions” which honors local
youth and high school teams that won fall
championships.

The Flames will continue the Glens
Falls tradition of a New Year’s Eve game
on Wednesday, Dec. 31. The evening will
include a special 5 p.m. puck drop as
a start to New Years Eve festivities in
Glens Falls. The evening will be capped
off with an indoor fireworks display from
Fireworks By Alonso at the conclusion of
the hockey game.

Officials said the Flames and Glens Falls
Hospital will again partner to hold “Pink in
the Rink” night on Saturday, Jan. 17, which
will feature the second themed jersey of
the season. The Glens Falls Civic Center
will be decked out in pink as Glens Falls
Hospital and the Flames join forces in the
battle against breast cancer.

Proceeds from the postgame jersey auction
will benefit C.R. Wood Cancer Center
in Glens Falls.

In conjunction with USA Hockey’s Hockey
Weekend Across America, the Flames
will celebrate “Hockey Weekend Across
the Adirondacks” on Saturday, Feb. 28.
The Flames will honor the proud tradition
of hockey in Glens Falls, while welcoming
in the new age of the Adirondack
Flames. The weekend begins on Friday,
Feb. 27. People in the community will be
encouraged to wear a hockey jersey to
school or work during the day.

Saturday, in addition to the night game,
is “Try Hockey Day,” where Flames officials
encourage people to learn more
about playing the game. The weekend-long
event will include a celebration of Glens
Falls local hockey heroes. It will be run
in partnership with the Adirondack Youth
Hockey Association.

The eighth guaranteed date will be “Go
Green” night on Saturday, March 14, which
will combine the flair of St. Patrick’s Day
with an environmentally conscious going
green initiative, officials said. Further
sponsorship and promotional information
will be announced closer to the event.
