Stored Technology Solutions (StoredTech) in Queensbury plans to use a $250,000 grant awarded by the state Regional Economic Development Council to build an office in Glens Falls allows for a company expansion.

For StoredTech owner Mark Shaw, it marks yet more growth since the company was founded in 2010 as a managed services provider.

“There is an immediate need for more office space as we continue to rapidly expand office operations to support local growth, as well as growth outside our region,” said Shaw.

The company is in the preliminary stages of the expansion and is looking to build close to the Northway corridor.

“We are still working on all avenues,” said Shaw, who has sent out  a Request For Proposals. “We will know more as we gather responses.”

Shaw said the grant allows the company to double, or even triple, the size of its Glens Falls office. He said they currently have 40 employees and the move will allow them to hire additional staff.

“We are constantly hiring the best of the best and will continue to do so. At this time, we are the employer of choice for technology jobs in the area,” said Shaw.

The current space at 543 Queensbury Ave. has about 10,000 square feet. Shaw said the new location will have a collaboration center space. Other planned amenities include a meeting space that will be provided free to clients and local nonprofits in the community.

“We have it now and want to ensure that wherever we end up that it remains,” said Shaw.

Shaw opened his business with the belief that customers should expect more from their service providers.

“We, as a firm, have focused on customer delight. It has been the core tenant of everything we do. When we listen to the clients and adapt to their needs, we have found that the business growth takes care of itself,” he said. “Everything we do, every day, starts with the ideal of ‘customer delight.’ That has meant that many of the norms for IT support had to be tossed out the window and new methods of support were built. Nothing else has been a bigger driver of our success.”

StoredTech provides back-end computer support for business phone systems, computers, networking, managed services, security and access control.

Shaw’s business evolved from a humble start in a basement office to its current headquarters in Queensbury that features a full-service communications center, corporate offices and the collaboration center. It also now has offices in Albany and Plattsburgh.

In 2017, it acquired Sabre Networks in Youngsville, N.C., an IT managed solutions company. Sabre Networks was founded in 1996 and has provided managed IT support services to organizations across the research triangle region of North Carolina for over 20 years.

Shaw began his IT career as a consultant at 17 when he started his first company. He has degrees in business management and information systems, he moved on to garner experience and training at every level of company and business. He held positions as an IT manager for a Canadian and U.S.-based products and was a director of managed services for a technology firm serving the upstate New York region.

The company website is www.storedtech.com.
