Deric Buck and his mother, Faith Anne Buck, took over the golf club and its eatery, Bogey’s Pub & Grill, in October and plan to have a dinner menu available soon.
After 12 years as chief executive chef at George’s Restaurant in Lake George, Deric Buck is striking out on his own as co-owner of the Bay Meadows Golf and Bogey’s Pub & Grill on Meadowbrook Road in Queensbury.
His mother, Faith Anne Buck, is his partner in the business.
“I’m really excited to be here,” Buck said, and touted the “community atmosphere” he hopes to create.
Since he took over the business in October, Buck has been serving lunches on site and for take-out.
He will add dinner service as soon as he has his liquor license. He said he hopes that will occur before Christmas.
For now, the menu is heavy on sandwiches, including the muffuletta, a New Orleans-inspired concoction of sandwich meats and cheeses. For the less adventurous, the restaurant offers Reubens, Rachels, club sandwiches, wraps, salads, crabcakes, and black Angus beef burgers. The clubhouse offers lunch and “pub grub.”
Dinner will feature steak and seafood, he noted.
“We are just going to produce good food,” he said, with everything prepared from scratch. To help attract the family trade, Bay Meadows will also have a children’s menu.
When the establishment is at full operation, there will be two bars, one in the restaurant and the other in the clubhouse. The clubhouse also has indoor golf simulators to help golfers through the winter months.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with take-out available until 8 p.m. The telephone number is 792-1650.
