Some 34 years ago Jack Sheehy started a small building materials distribution company in West Haven, Conn.. Two and a half years ago John Sheehy, Jack’s son, grew Kamco Supply Corp. of New England (Kamco) to include a ninth site, this one in Queensbury.
Construction for the property at 10 Silver Circle, Queensbury, is ongoing and Jaime St John, the branch manager, expects to be fully operational in “possibly October” but thinks November is a more realistic time frame.
Munter Enterprises of Middle Grove, a construction company that has been in operation since 1972, is handling the project.
Working with Munter has been “incredible” St John says. They are “A-list” according to the branch manager who has been doing business with the construction company for about 23 years.
The Queensbury warehouse and office area, at a total of 33,000 square feet, will be smaller than the Albany location.
This site has “good access to the Northway,” which was an important factor for Sheehy and Kamco. The original two lots have been combined into one, and provide an “efficient layout,” Sheehy said, “like designing form a blank.”
Kamco brings in tractor trailers of goods to the warehouse. They store these materials at the facility and then deliver the goods to individual and commercial buyers, including schools, hospitals, and other major contracts in the Adirondack region.
The Queensbury location employs about 15 people, similar to its other sites. The work force can be expanded as needed.
