hired two new staff members for ADK’s Lake
George and Albany Offices.
Linda T. Smith joins ADK as annual fund
manager. She is responsible
for all aspects
of annual fund giving,
including maintaining
donor records and annual
appeals, as well
as support of special
events.
Smith brings thirty
years of experience
to ADK, most recently
eight years of annual giving support at Double
H Ranch in Lake Luzerne and two years of annual
giving and special event responsibilities
at The Hyde Collection in Glens Falls.
to joining the not-for-profit arena, she worked
in the communications field, providing marketing,
public relations and event support to soft
drink and technology companies on both the
corporate and client sides.
Cathy Pedler joins ADK after working
with ADK officials on
the
(ASP) Border Monitoring
Project. The project
became necessary
when unconventional
oil and gas drilling operations
in the northern
district of the Allegheny
National Forest (ANF)
in Pennsylvania threatened
to contaminate the watersheds flowing
into New York’s ASP.
coordinator for the Allegheny Defense Project
(ADP), a non-profit advocacy organization
based in Pennsylvania’s Allegheny National
Forest, and brings to ADK many years of experience
defending public lands from mismanagement
and extraction abuse.
20 years of experience in cultural resource
management, and has worked as a sustainability
coordinator and as an intelligence analyst.
The Adirondack Mountain Club, founded
in 1922, is the oldest and largest organization
dedicated to the protection of the New York
State Forest Preserve.

At the Double H Ranch’s annual meeting in
August, three new members were elected to
the board of directors.
Elected were:

General Electric Plastics Division focused on
executive management, sales and marketing.
He is the retired president/CEO of SABIC Innovative
Plastics & Executive Vice President

He is a member of the board of DuBois Corp.;
Advisory Council member of Villanova University
and advisor to Autism Speaks.
Maureen O’Brien Donovan of Albany,
a graduate of the University of Notre Dame
with a bachelor’s degree and a master’s from
New York University. Her career has focused
on new business development and government
relations. Since 2007, she has served as the
director of government affairs for Motorola
Solutions Inc. Her son Gabe was diagnosed
with neurofibromatosis at 6 months of age and
participates in the Double H Ranch adaptive
winter sports program and summer camp.
Donovan volunteers for the Children’s Tumor
Foundation Endurance Team and is a member
of the Neurofibromatosis Foundation Coalition.
Elizabeth Matthews McCarthy of
Manhattan, a graduate of Lafayette College
with a degree in business and economics. Her
career focus is asset management and she currently is serving in an equity marketing role at
the investment bank Credit Suisse, where she
is a vice president. She spent seven summers
at the Double H Ranch, four as a full-time
counselor and three as a summer volunteer.
While in Manhattan, McCarthy volunteers at
the New York Foundling Hospital and Make-
A-Wish Foundation.

Marvin and Co. PC, an accounting, auditing,
taxation and management consulting firm, announced
two new hires and one promotion at
its Queensbury-based office.
Debra Smith, a certified public accountant,
was promoted to manager. The Johnsonville
native joined the firm in 2012 and brings
nine years of experience in accounting services
to her latest duties. She holds a bachelor’s degree
in business administration in accounting
from Siena College.
Margaret Hurlburt, CPA, has spent the
past 13 years at two regional CPA firms. The Fort Edward resident joins Marvin and Co. at
the in-charge/supervisor level.
Mark Quackenbush of Fort Edwardjoins
Marvin and Co. as an auditor, having
earned an associate’s degree in business administration
from SUNY Adirondack and his
bachelor’s degree in accounting from SUNY
Oswego in 2013.
