Silver Bay YMCA’s fundraising effort to
build a new conference center on Lake
George has reached the $10 million mark.
The announcement about the Campaign
for Silver Bay was made at the annual meeting
of the Silver Bay Association in August.
The “community phase” of the fundraising
campaign is now in full swing, officials said.
This is an opportunity for all members and
friends of Silver Bay to participate in the
effort.
Funding is currently being raised to
complete $17 million in “priority one” projects
that include a new center for lodging,
dining and leadership and several environmental
improvements to help protect Lake
George, officials said.
Silver Bay YMCA of the Adirondacks is a 111-year old YMCA family retreat and conference center on shores of Lake George. It hosts conferences, family reunions, family vacations, weddings, and team building and leadership training on a 700-acre waterfront campus.
The new center, to be built on the site of the current dining hall, will make all-season activity possible at the core of the Silver Bay campus, said officials. It will provide 30-40 new and accessible guest rooms with private baths, significantly upgraded dining experiences and flexible meeting rooms for up to 200 participants.
Officials said environmental and lake water protection projects include a new waste water system, rain gardens, road improvements that better handle storm water run-off, and new parking areas.
“We are extremely pleased with the generous outpouring of support so far,” said Silver Bay CEO David Kisselback about reaching the $10 million mark. “Silver Bay will be transformed by the new center and it will help us better serve our mission.”
In addition to providing conference services and on-campus programs, Silver Bay YMCA provides year-round services to regional youth, adults and seniors. Silver Bay runs the Teen Center in Ticonderoga as well as the after-school program at Ticonderoga Elementary School.
The national YMCA Youth & Government Program, Youth Music Camps, fitness and social programs are also offered to the community.
Silver Bay offers accommodations to fit all groups’ needs and budgets. It also offers an array of meeting spaces to fit the needs of your group, ranging from quaint enclosed pavilions and historic halls to a 700-person auditorium. As a courtesy to all conferences and groups, Silver Bay provides standard audio/visual as well as conferencing equipment and set up at no additional charge.
Silver Bay has dozens of activities for all ages, including archery, boating, crafts, music, and more.
Silver Bay YMCA, a mission-driven organization in operation since 1902, hosts respite stays for clergy and others through its Brookside/Trinity Community House Program and its Military Family R&R Program. Each year, over 300 nonprofit conferences and meetings are held at Silver Bay, serving over 20,000 distinct individuals.
