
Hudson Headwaters Health Network was honored with the Distinguished Business Award for exceptional service in the region at the annual Adirondack Business Council, program of the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce, Business of the Year Awards,
The annual event honors businesses in the region for achievements during the year.
The Distinguished Business Award goes to a company that “exemplifies the character of a successful and thriving business, as well as a community leader that is looked upon as a standard of excellence.” Past recipients of this award have been Warren Tire, The Michaels Group, Northern Design & Building Associates, Glen Street Associates, and Hilltop Construction.
Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce also presented seven other awards at the annual event held at Fort William Henry Resort and Conference Center in Lake George.
“The selection process to choose the winners is both challenging and insightful as all 25 nominees are very deserving,” said John Crawford, of JP Crawford & Associates and a member of the Adirondack Business Council.
“Members of the council conducted in-depth interviews with each nominee about their professional achievements as well as their contributions to the community, ensuring the integrity and credibility of these awards,” he said.
Among the awards, the Community, Work & Independence (CWI) won the new Nonprofit Business of the Year award.
Other award winners were presented to:
• Bartlett, Pontiff, Stewart, & Rhodes PC–Professional Business of the Year.
• Adirondack Technical Solutions–Steven M. Sutton Small Business of the Year.
• Kingpin’s Alley Family Fun Center–Rookie Business of the Year.
• Associates for Glens Falls–Healthy Workplace Award.
• Stomachcakes–Independent Business of the Year.
• Jaeger & Flynn Associates–Large Business of the Year.
All nominees were honored at the awards breakfast with framed certificates recognizing their achievement. The other nominees in the six business categories were:
Steven M. Sutton Small Business of the Year (recognition of established business with 2-50 employees): Country Side Veterinary Practice, Davidson Brothers Brewing Co., Martha’s Dandee Crème, Parker Machine Co., Scoville Jewelers, and the VMJR Companies.
Large Business of the Year (recognition of established business with 51 or more employees); The Sagamore Resort/ Ocean Properties and West Mountain Ski Area.
Rookie Business of the Year (recognition of business in existence for three years or less with 2-50 employees): Adirondack Skydiving Adventures.
Independent Business of the Year (recognition of individually owned and operated business with no employees, and not supported or backed by a corporation or franchise): Kendall & Associates.
Professional Business of the Year (recognition of established licensed professionals with 2-50 employees): H&R Block – Warrensburg Office and North Country Sports Medicine. Healthy Workplace of the Year (recognition of an established business that demonstrates a commitment to supporting the health and wellâ€being of its employees): Family YMCA of the Glens Falls Area and Genpak.
Nonprofit Business of the Year (recognition of a not-for-profit 501 (c) 3 business whose organization mission is reflective of community needs and has demonstrated outstanding contributions to the community’s quality of life); Charles R. Wood Theater, Adirondack Ballet Theater, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Southern Adirondack and Hudson Headwaters Health Network.
