Antiques Market Place in Queensbury moved
to a new location as of Feb. 1.
The business moved to 650 Route 149, Lake
George, at the intersection with Bay Road. It
was previously located in Sutton’s Marketplace
in Queensbury.
The owners said the lease was expiring on
the location at Sutton’s and the building was
sold. The new owners allowed the management
at Antiques Market Place to occupy the space
until the end of the lease.
The new location in Lake George is owned by
nearby restaurant, Bistro LeRoux. Prior to moving
in, the building was renovated for the Antique
Market Place, said Pat Martin, manager.
The inside of the space has a vintage, rustic
feel, with exposed wooden floors and antiques
covering much of the room. There is ample
parking.
Antiques Market Place is a multi-dealer
shop. Each dealer has a specialty in antiques,
ranging from mid-century modern, to deco, art
nouveau, country, Americana, primitive and
more. All pieces are either vintage (50 years old
or older) or antique (100 years old or older).
There are pieces dating from the 18th century
to the 20th century.
Inside the store, customers can find fine
art, costumes, Adirondack antiques, vintage
lighting, linens and textiles, furniture, and
other items.
Dealers are available at Antiques Market
Place to help customers find the piece they are
looking for and to answer questions.
The store prides themselves on researching
every piece to guarantee authenticity. There
are no reproductions, craft items, modern day
items, or gift shop items for sale.
“The Antiques Market Place should be the
first stop on the shopping list of anyone, but
we’ll surely be the last stop, because we’ll have
whatever the person wants,” said Martin, manager.
“However, in the odd case that we don’t
have exactly what our customer wants, we are
happy to work together with our colleagues,
those other antique shops in the area. We will
call other shops in an attempt to find the piece
our customer needs. If another shop has the
appropriate piece, we are happy to send our
customers to that shop.”
A grand reopening celebration will take place
Feb. 14-15, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will coincide with
the store’s third anniversary celebration.
