The owners and operators of Kingsbury
Printing Co. Inc., Bob and Jan Bombard, live
in Queensbury and their children went to
Queensbury schools, so when it came time to
expand, they were naturally drawn to their
hometown.
“We outgrew our spot in Hudson Falls,” said
Jan. “We’ve been there since ’86 and we expanded
as far as we could go in that building.”
In addition to the draw of a known territory,
the owners said that they already had quite
a few people traveling to Hudson Falls for
services. The new store, located in the Mount
Royal Plaza on Route 9 across from Cumberland
Farms, made it more convenient for them.
“The visibility is good,” said Jan. “And Lake
George people now come down here.”
They opened the expansive new storefront so
that they could offer large format printing and
large format products like wall clings, window
clings, yard signs, decals, banners and more.
This is in addition to their company’s standard
digital and offset printing. The Hudson Falls
store services will remain the same.
In addition to quality and timely work, they
focus on good customer service.
“We try to meet with our customers,” she
said. “We do custom work–we don’t work from
templates. We are very service-oriented.
“We have our website and people can do
online ordering, but we still like to meet
people face-to-face. We have an old-fashioned
ethic that way,” she added. “Then you can see
how things really look, and not just take it for
granted that it’s going to look like the PDF generated
document.”
The printing company has been family run
for its entire 30-year existence, beginning as
“mom-and-pop” but expanding as the family
grew. The Hudson Falls store is run by son Jason
Bombard. Also on the books are nephew, sister,
and close family friend.
The Bombard’s daughter, Victoria Bushey,
is the graphic design manager and is primarily
responsible for the new location’s Wedding
Invitation Center for custom designed wedding
packages. “I do wedding invitations and programs
and place cards and such,” said Bushey.
“We have been a member of the Adirondack-
Albany Wedding Association for a while.”
According to Bushey, their prices are competitive, even with presses in Asia.
“Someone ordered their wedding invitations
from a company in China,” she said. “And they
didn’t get what they’d ordered. We had to turn
them around in a day, and our prices were
comparable to what she got over there. But
unfortunately she had to pay twice.”
In addition to being reliable and serviceoriented,
they pride themselves on being
innovative. Jan related how they once used
the shrink wrap machine to dry ink-saturated
paper for a quick order on pageant programs.
Another time they used a household toaster to
dry foil labels.
“You get to the point where you have to make
delivery,” she said, “and you do what you have
to do.”
“And we can do just about anything,” she said.
“If it’s on paper, we print it,” said Bushey.
Many printed products are available including
business cards, brochures, booklets,
newsletters, carbonless forms, and rack cards.
