Tom Smith, owner of Monkey Wrench Auto
Sports, says he has been an “auto enthusiast”
his entire life. He is now taking his passion
for cars and turning it into a business in
Queensbury, where he says no job is turned
away.
“Where there is a wheel, there’s a way,”
said Smith.
Smith, also an employee at Finch Paper in
Glens Falls, said he has loved cars for as long
as he can remember. He said the repair shop, at
306 Quaker Road, is something he has wanted
to open for a long time and feels with his team
of seven employees, it will be a success.
In addition to offering a wide range of services,
it was important to him to make it a fun
atmosphere. This is where the name “Monkey
Wrench” comes into play.
“We decided to use a play on words. When
you go to website, you can see we love what we
do, and have fun doing it,” said Smith.
At Monkey Wrench, Smith said customers
can expect to find a variety of automotive services ranging from basic maintenance to
heavy repair. They also offer restorations,
audio systems, tires, brakes, body work, welding
and they are licensed to complete state
inspections.
The shop is installed with “All Data” systems,
the software used by close to 70,000
dealerships and repair shops.
Smith said they want people to leave feeling
as though they were given the time to look at
all repair options. He wants everyone to leave
happy and feeling satisfied with service.
“Being a part of the community and working
here, we want people to trust our work,”
said Smith.
The website is a good indicator of Smith’s
love of cars. You can find links for car enthusiasts,
“Monkey Wrench,” apparel, photos of
the employees, or the “monkeys,” and links to
various social media the shop uses.
Monkey Wrench Autosports is open Monday
through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Walkins
and appointments are both welcome. Its
website is www.306Quaker.com.
