Don’t be fooled by the name, Tami-Jo’s Grocery
and Deli is much more than a quick place to stop
for a few things one might need.
The full-service deli, catering service, grocery
store at 36 Feeder Dam Road in South Glens Falls,
also has lottery, beverages, subs made to order, and
more. Tami-Jo Blondo said opening the business
was something that she hadn’t planned until a
series of unfortunate events led her to what is
now a fulfilling business venture.
Blondo said she was laid-off from a position in
October of 2013 and was feeling lost, frustrated
and down on her luck. She said she came to point
where she decided to make a change, a change
that started with the vacant neighborhood store
she drove by everyday.
“I said to my husband, it’s time to pick myself
up and dust myself off,” said Blondo.
Blondo said the condition of the building was
poor and many parts of it had been neglected and
damaged. She said it took a leap of faith and a lot
of hard work to bring it back to life.
“We had to work to gain people’s trust, let them
know we were invested into making this a place
they would want to stop and see,” said Blondo.
Business has been gaining momentum according
to Blondo. She said they began catering in
March and have received many calls for graduation
parties, funerals, and office parties.
They cater all parties and affairs from 10 to
250 people and have a wide assortment of fresh
deli sandwiches, meat platters, fruit platters and
dessert trays. Blondo works alongside two full-time
and one part-time employees.
The deli offers a selection of fresh baked turkey,
roast beef and ham each day. Its homemade
specialty sandwiches are available for carry-out
or eat-in. People can also have dinner made that
they can carry out.
Customers can look for the rusty pickup parked
out front and walls lined with Tami-Jo’s Grocery &
Deli’s own Adirondack and South Glens Falls nick
nacks that give this tiny rustic eatery its charm.
The store is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Breakfast
is served until every day until 11 a.m. The phone
number is 409-8933. Its website is www.tami-jos.com.
