As part of a statewide program, LARAC’s
Community Arts Grants will be awarded again
this year, with deadlines for applying for funds
falling in October.
Awards are distributed to artists, nonprofit
organizations, municipalities, and churches
located in Warren and Washington counties.
To apply for an organizational grant, programs
must take place in 2016, be arts and cultural in
nature, and open to the public. Each organization
may apply for one to three projects, with a
minimum request of $300 per proposal and a
maximum request of $5,000 for one to three
projects. Washington counties.
Programs in the past have included dance
performances, theater productions, concerts,
historical programs, art/craft classes and
workshops, readings, and film series.
To apply for an Individual Artist grant for
$2,500, applicants must be 18 years old or over
with their primary residence in Washington or
Warren County. The applicant must propose the
creation of new works of art that will be completed
within 2016.
The work must be artist initiated and in some
way reflect community life, culture and/or engage
local communities in the work of the artist. These
projects are seen as ways for artists to lead and
direct the creative process in their communities
and to showcase the artist as a community
resource. Artists who received an individual artist
grant for 2014 or 2015 are ineligible.
The deadline for the individual category
application is Oct. 23.
To apply for an arts education grant, programs
must take place in 2016, be arts and cultural in
nature, and meet in a K-12 classroom during
school, on at least three separate occasions.
Organizations as well as individual artists may
apply, with a minimum request of $300 and a
maximum request of $5,000.
Programs in the past have included dance
performances, theater productions, concerts, and
historical programs. The deadline for applying in
this category is Oct. 30.
To be eligible to apply for the 2016 grants, all
applicants are required to attend a grant applicant
seminar or meet with the community outreach
coordinator for an overview and explanation of
the grant process.
