The owner of the popular Warrensburg Gulf Tire House and Gas Station will be overseeing construction of a truck stop and gas station in the Queensbury area.
Appropriately named the Queensbury Truck Stop, owner Tabassum “Toby” Sheikh said the full-service station will also offer Dunkin’ Donuts, and a small restaurant service.
The location of the truck stop and gas station will be on the corner of Route 149 and Ridge Road.
Sheikh said the spot, which he previously operated, was a Getty Gas Station that did well, receiving a lot of traffic. He made the decision to tear it down last fall in order to build the new 6,500-square-foot space.
“We are working on details now, but planning for a November opening,” said Sheikh.
The former station had its pumps and tanks removed last fall, and eight brand new pumps will soon be installed.
He said the new Sunoco gas station will be able to accommodate big trucks travelling through the North Country. The entire cost of the project right now is between $2 and $3 million.
The Warrensburg shop operates as an auto repair shop, gas station with gasoline, non-ethanol gas, on-road diesel, off-road diesel, clear kerosene, a propane refill station and tobacco shop.
The Queensbury store will really be geared as a place where people can stop, fill up their vehicles, get coffee and a meal, according to Sheikh.
“There will space for people to stop and park, including truckers who need adequate space, “said Sheikh.
