Wicks From The Sticks: Candle and Craft Store, a business that features soy wax candles and other artisan products, opened July 12 in Glens Falls.
The business is owned by Megan and Jeremiah Arnold and located at 264 Warren St., Suite K.
The new cooperative craft store will stock everything from locally up-cycled décor and rustic designs, to wind chimes to treats for dogs.
Arnold said she knew she wanted to have a store front from the moment she sold her first candle.
Wicks From The Sticks started in 2014 in a small Glens Falls kitchen. It now has its first storefront shop.
Co-owner, Megan Arnold, focuses on providing soy wax candles that are locally handmade and cost less than commercial candles. The all-natural soy base for the candles has no toxic chemicals and is much healthier for consumers and their pets.
She continues to add new products to her line like wax melts, lip balms and bath bombs. As local business owners, Megan and Jeremiah said they are invested in the small business culture in their community and have a mission to provide Glens Falls with access to local artisan products within their new store front.
“I’ve met some great small business owners since starting Wicks From The Sticks. I wanted to give other local artisans like me a chance to show upstate New York all the creativity we have to offer as a community,” she said.
With a constantly expanding line of products, a group of local artisans by their side and a large space to host candle parties and other events, the Arnolds are excited to take this next step with their business.
“I started making candles about two years ago when I wanted to make the perfect Christmas gift for my mother,” said Megan. “She loves candles so I searched online and learned how to make them. I posted the results on Facebook and within minutes I had 10 different people asking for their own candles. I haven’t stopped making them since.”
Wicks From The Sticks: Candle & Craft Store will be open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The store phone number is 518-502-1765.
