The Adirondack Thunder has announced its promotional schedule for the 2017-18 season.
The Thunder’s 2017-18 home schedule, which consists of 36 home games, will begin on Saturday, Oct. 14, as the Thunder take on the Brampton Beast at Cool Insuring Arena at 7 p.m.
Opening Night will feature a magnet schedule giveaway as well as an outdoor party on the plaza to kick off the Thunder’s third season, the first that the Thunder will open at home.
The season will feature additional giveaways, including a Capital Region Hockey poster (Oct. 20), a Bill Dineen magnet banner (Dec. 9), a Christmas ornament (Dec. 23), a 2017-18 team poster, presented by Glens Falls Printing (Jan. 27), a youth jersey, presented by Glens Falls Hospital (Feb. 24) and a green Thunder T-Shirt (March 17).
“We’re excited to introduce our first promotional schedule as new owners of the Adirondack Thunder that features new themes, giveaways and some other special events,” Adirondack Thunder President Jeff Mead said. “We’re especially thrilled to honor the legendary Bill Dineen with a night of his own as he rightfully takes his place in the rafters of Cool Insuring Arena. Bill has contributed so much to our area and has earned the honor of being only the second individual to have his name in the rafters.”
Giveaway sponsors and additional giveaway nights will be announced closer to the season, team officials said.
The honoring of the late Bill Dineen will be held Saturday, Dec. 9, with a banner-raising ceremony prior to the game against the Norfolk Admirals. The first 2,500 fans in attendance at the game will receive a Bill Dineen banner magnet. The Thunder will also wear special Dineen-themed jerseys for the game.
The Thunder will continue the Black Friday Special on Nov. 25, with tickets starting at $6 the day prior on Black Friday. Nov. 25 will also be Superhero Night, as the Thunder will don superhero-themed jerseys.
Other highlighted Saturday night games include Fireman Appreciation Night (Oct. 28), Teddy Bear Toss (Dec. 9), a holiday Celebration (Dec. 23), Pink In The Rink (Jan. 13), season ticket holder and corporate sponsor appreciation night (Jan. 27), Adirondack Hockey Hall of Fame inductions (Feb. 24), Law Enforcement Appreciation Night (March 10), St. Patrick’s Day (March 17) and the final Saturday home game (March 31).
Fidelis Care sponsor all Friday Night home games. The Fidelis Care Fridays series allows kids in free with the purchase of an adult ticket. Fidelis Care will also sponsor an additional four giveaways (Dec. 15, January 19, Feb. 16 and April 6) with giveaway items to be announced at a later date
Pink in the Rink, presented by Glens Falls Hospital, on Saturday, Jan. 13 will see all proceeds from a post-game jersey auction going to benefit the C.R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital. The Thunder will also hold Military Appreciation Night, presented by U.A. Local 773, on Feb. 16. The game will feature a live post-game auction with all proceeds benefitting the Dog Tag Brewing Foundation, supporting Gold Star Veterans.
Post-game skates and meet-and-greets with the team, presented by Glens Falls Hospital, will return on Saturday, Dec. 9; Saturday, Jan. 27; and Sunday, Feb. 25. The events on Dec. 9 and Jan. 27 will be post-game skates, while the event on Feb. 25 will be a post-game autograph session.
Donation opportunities will once again be present throughout the 2017-18 season, beginning with the canned food drive on Saturday, Oct. 28, benefitting the Open Door Mission in Glens Falls. Anyone who donates a non-perishable food item at the game will receive a free Silver Flex ticket.
The Thunder will hold the annual Teddy Bear Toss on Saturday, Dec. 9 with all stuffed animals collected donated to the Salvation Army. Bears will be sold at Cool Insuring Arena with all proceeds also benefitting Salvation Army.
