Hank’s Quality Flooring is moving to larger quarters in downtown Glens Falls.
The new location, at 28-30 Elm Street, is about twice the size of the company’s current location at 730 Upper Glen St. in Queensbury, about two miles away. It will enable the company to have its retail facility and warehouse in the same building.
“It was the only building in downtown Glens Falls that would have worked for us,” said Hank Marler, the company’s owner.
It has plenty of parking and generous window space. As a bonus, it is in a familiar neighborhood. Marler’s grandparents lived right behind the new location and operated a now-defunct diner.
“As a kid, I always played around in the big parking lot out back. Now I’m 51 and I can get to do it again,” he said.
After years as a renter, Marler now owns his building. He purchased it from A&S Lakeshore Leasing Inc., for $330,000.
The Elm Street building previously housed ABC Equipment and Restaurant Supplies. When Marler took possession, it was still full of dishes and old restaurant equipment that had to be disposed of.
Since closing on the purchase Dec. 6, Marler has been building new walls, painting, and, of course, laying down new flooring. He expects to be ready to open at the new location by the end of January.
The company has a selection of carpet, ceramic tile, hardwood floors, laminate flooring and vinyl. There are also “green” product selections like bamboo and cork flooring. Popular brand names are available. It boasts designs and brilliant finishes that accompany both hardwood and laminate flooring, as well as new colors, patterns and styles of available in carpeting.
