The 10th annual Maple in April Festival
on April 26 and 27 will feature the Saratoga
& North Creek Railway and an event for
bicycle enthusiasts in Hadley.
The bicycle event is slated for Sunday,
April 27.
There are two options for this event: The
long ride for the experienced cyclists (37
miles) and the in-between ride for those
looking for a moderate ride to start off their
bicycle season (17 miles).
The hub of the event is at the Hadley/ Luzerne Train Station, 4113 Rockwell St. The Long Ride entails participants boarding at the Saratoga train station with their bicycle at 10 a.m. They’ll ride the Saratoga & North Creek Railway to Thurman Station, then pedal their bicycle back to Hadley/Luzerne Station where they’ll receive a swag bag and fill up their water bottle. Then the bikers will pedal back to the Saratoga Station, 26 Station Lane — a total of 37 miles.
The cost for the Rail & Bicycle Long Ride is $20.
The In-Between ride begins at the Hadley/ Luzerne train station at 10:55 a.m. The bicyclist will board the train to ride to the Thurman Station, disembark and pedal back to Hadley — a total of 17 miles. The cost for the that ride is $15.

Some of the other activities on Saturday for the Maple in April festival include a French toast breakfast with Oscar’s Smokehouse sausage and real maple syrup beginning at 8 a.m. for $7; maple sugaring demonstration, maple recipe contest, craft and food vendors, live music, horse drawn wagon rides, historic bus tour, farm pets, an art gallery opening, antiques, inflatables, face painting, big trucks and other family fun along Rockwell Street in Hadley.
The Hadley Business Association also features the Lil’ Sugar Car, Truck & Cycle Show on Saturday plus music, a barbecue and fireworks at dusk.
The Upstate Model Railroaders Club will display at the Hadley Town Hall. This year there will be a church service and breakfast at the Hadley Smead Park on Sunday, as well as activities along Rockwell Street.
