The Juicin’ Jar opened in Lake George in
May. The store features freshly squeezed juices,
smoothies, and other healthy snacks.
Juicin’ Jar, at 204 Canada St., is located
in the Village Mall. Owners Cristina Laubenheimer
and Daniel Hanchett started juicing
this past winter when they received a juicer as
a Christmas gift. The couple soon started planning
to open their own juice bar, and Juicin’
Jar was launched.
There is a large menu featuring drinks that
guests can choose from. Some of the popular
choices are Kale Almighty, a kale-spinach-apple
juice drink, and the Summer Sweetie, a blend
of pineapple, strawberry, and watermelon.
Several ingredients are sourced directly
from the local farmer’s markets. Owners purchase
items such as cucumber, carrots, kale
and watermelon from nearby farms and take
them to Juicin’ Jar. Ingredients are freshly
cut and squeezed in front of customers. None
of the items are pre-prepared, according to
the owners.
Customers can also make their own juice or
smoothie, using a combination of bases, fruits
and vegetables available.
Besides fresh juice, the store also carries
smoothies, yogurt parfaits, fruit cups, fruitinfused
waters, coffee, tea, and daily specials.
In early August, Juicin’ Jar featured a watermelon
juice with lime and mint as their special
in honor of National Watermelon Day.
As the summer season changes, the owners
said new ingredients will be added to the
lineup, such as coconut water, cilantro, papaya
and starfruit.
Juicin’ Jar features artwork from members
of the local community. Hannah Williams, a
local artist, painted a mural of a large fruit tree
that fills one wall of the store. Each month the
paintings of a different artist are celebrated
within the store. August will feature work from
Anthony Richichi.
The owners said they often found it difficult
to go out to eat and find healthy food. They
hope Juicin’ Jar will provide an alternative
to customers who wish to take part in better
eating habits.
“We want to inspire and educate others
about their food,” Laubenheimer said. “We’re
trying to bring different healthy options to
Lake George.”
“We are really excited and we really appreciate
all of the support that everybody has
shown,” Laubenheimer said.
Juicin’ Jar is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Monday through Wednesday, and 10 a.m. to 10
p.m. Thursday through Sunday. The store is
open until Columbus Day weekend. For more
information, visit www.juicinjar.com. The
phone number is 415-0358.
