Famed retailer of outdoor attire L.L.Bean
will be opening its first outlet store in New
York, at the Adirondack Outlet Mall at the
Factory Outlets of Lake George.
The 13,600-square-foot store will employ
approximately 25 people and will feature
an assortment of discontinued, overstocked
or gently used active and casual apparel and
footwear, as well as outdoor lifestyle gear including
hiking, fly-fishing, kayaking and winter
gear and camping products, representatives of
the company said.
There are currently four full-retail stores
in New York with locations in Albany, Fayetteville,
Yonkers and Victor.
L.L.Bean officials said the company chose
this location for its first New York outlet store
due to its popularity as a year-round outdoor
recreational destination, as well as the high
level of traffic that the Adirondack Outlet
Mall receives.
“We’re really excited to be opening our very
first New York outlet store in the Lake George
region,” said Greg Elder, vice president of
stores for L.L.Bean. “The incredible diversity
of outdoor activities and wonderful natural
resources, combined with a population base
that truly embraces the outdoor lifestyle tells
me that this is going to be a very good home
for us.”
This will be L.L.Bean’s 11th outlet store and
its first outlet store in New York.
L.L.Bean is currently hiring staff. Those

Founded in 1912 by Leon Leonwood Bean,
the company began as a one-room operation
selling a single product, the Maine Hunting
Shoe. Still family owned, Shawn Gorman, great
grandson of Leon Leonwood Bean, was named
chairman of the board of directors in 2013.
While its business has grown over the years,
L.L.Bean continues to uphold the values of its
founder, including his dedication to quality,
customer service and a love of the outdoors,
company officials said. L.L.Bean products
are rigorously tested, guaranteed to last and
always shipped free.
In the past five years, L.L.Bean has donated
over $6 million toward conservation and land
stewardship.
