The SUNY Adirondack Office of Continuing Education is seeking proposals for 2016-2017 SUNY Workforce Development Grant funds.
The grant is designed to assist community colleges with providing funding for training projects at businesses within New York State. The deadline to apply for this competitive grant is Friday, July 8.
Dr. Erin Krivitski was recently appointed to the role of coordinator of workforce training in the Office of Continuing Education at SUNY Adirondack.
She will be working with local businesses to provide customized contract training to meet staff development needs and coordinating the SUNY Workforce Development Grant.
Krivitski earned her doctorate from the University at Albany and is a state-licensed psychologist. She was previously employed by Glens Falls Hospital, where she coordinated grant programs focused on health promotion, and had served as an adjunct lecturer in the Psychology Department of the SUNY Plattsburgh Branch Campus at Queensbury.
The maximum award available per company is $30,000, and groups of companies can apply as a consortium and share training for an increased maximum award. Grant funds are expected to be released in September, and eligible projects may begin any time after they are available. Projects must conclude by July 7, 2017.
Companies located within Warren, Washington and northern Saratoga Counties, with two or more employees are eligible to apply.
First priority will be given to businesses that are newly relocated to New York state and those businesses that are start-ups and are expanding their operations and/or creating new jobs.
Consideration will also be given to employers that seek to use training to: improve productivity, efficiency, effectiveness or profitability; maintain operations in New York or retain jobs; show promise of increased sales, new products, or new markets. In addition, small firms that would not be able to afford training without assistance and businesses that show clear links to the economic development objectives of the region will also be considered. A percentage of matching funds from the employer will be required.
SUNY Adirondack administers the grants and works with employers to find the appropriate training providers.
