Beckley’s Marina has recently signed on as a dealer for Torqeedo, part of the growing segment of electric marine propulsion.
The trend towards electromobility is driven by several factors. Most importantly, the trend means cleaner, quieter, more environmentally friendly motors, according to Beckley’s. The electric drive systems cause no water pollution, as they do not discharge exhaust into the water.
Beckley’s said consumer acceptance of sustainable products has continued to rise and the demand for products like Torqeedo has risen with it. Torqeedo currently offers 32 electric boat drives ranging from 1 to 80 horsepower, though initially Beckley’s will be focused on the Ultralight 403, the smallest drive system from Torqeedo designed for canoes, kayaks, SUPs and small sailboats. In addition, Torqeedo offers a number of functional accessories such as solar charging technology and a smartphone app.
