The Salvation Army of Greater Glens Falls and the Tri-County United Way conducted a drive-thru food pantry on May 7 the Washington County Fair Grounds.

Statistics provided by the Salvation Army include:

• 1784 people served in 397 vehicles,  representing 517 households, 946 adults, 550 children and 288 senior citizens.

• 37,000 pounds of food was donated by the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NY

• 600 gallons of milk was donated Battenkill Valley Creamery.

• 4600 boxes of tissues were donated by Irving & Scotties.

• Thousands of masks were distributed by SAIL (Southern Adirondack Independent Living).

• Two forklifts and drivers were donated Rojcewicz Trucking.

It was accomplished by 214 volunteers from the public and 12 agencies who served a combined 974 hours.

Burger is responsible for maintaining, growing and servicing the company’s municipal relationships. She joined the bank in 2018 and will continue to work closely with branch staff and business partners to offer a variety of products and services to meet customer needs.

The Lake George Regional Chamber of Commerce and Premier Plus Travel are coordinating a special trip to Greece in 2020.
The public is invited to an informational event during which they can learn about the trip.
The trip is open to anybody and is not limited to Chamber members.
The open house will take place on Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Lake George Regional Chamber of Commerce office, 2176 Route 9 in Lake George. Doors open at 5 p.m. The presentation will take place at 5:30 p.m.

The Glens Falls Collaborative will hold its annual Boo2You Halloween festival on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 2-4 p.m.
People are encouraged to attend in costume to trick-or-treat and enjoy the festivities. The rain date is Sunday, Oct. 27, 2-4 p.m.
Activities along Glen Street, and in City Park include trick-or-treating at downtown storefronts, meet and greet with costumed characters, performances by local dance schools, and a Fun Zone, including pony rides, petting zoo and games.
This year, there will also be a Candy Row on Ridge Street for senior citizen residents of Cronin high-rise to hand out candy, and a Harry Potter-themed Hogwarts School tour at St. Mary’s-St. Alphonsus School at 10 Church St., courtesy of the SMSA Parent-Teacher Association.
New for 2019 is a carved pumpkin contest.Participants must pre-register at www.glensfallscollaborative.com/boo-2-you/ by Oct. 24. Attendees can vote on their favorite pumpkin and prizes will be handed out at 4 p.m. in front of the Wood Theater.

Glens Falls Hospital’s Nurse Residency Program achieved accreditation with distinction from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
ANCC Practice Transition Accreditation validates hospital residency programs that transition registered nurses (RNs) into practice settings that meet rigorous, evidence-based standards for quality and excellence.
Nurses in accredited transition programs, like the Nurse Residency Program at Glens Falls Hospital, experience curricula that promote the acquisition of knowledge, skills and professional behaviors necessary to deliver safe, high-quality care. Providing a structured framework for didactic content, nurses engage in experiential learning and mentorship by experienced nurses over a 12-month period. This type of program has been associated with higher retention rates of new graduate nurses.

The Adirondack Thunder partnered with Associates of Glens Falls Insurance (AOGF) and Loomis & LaPann Inc. to donate $2,750 to the Moreau Community Center’s backpack program.
AOGF and Loomis & LaPann agreed to donate $25 for every Thunder home goal scored in the 2018-2019 regular season.
Adirondack scored 110 goals at home this season. The Thunder have now contributed more than $5,600 to the backpack program over the past two seasons.

The signs say “Drive Like Your Kids Live Here” and are intended to reduce unsafe driving behaviors on busy streets and in neighborhoods where there are children. As spring continues and with summer right around the corner, children will begin playing outside more.

James Johnson has joined the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network as the director of planning.
Johnson has been employed by various practices in Northwestern Mutual, most recently as the director of client relations for Tronco Network managing partner Alex Tronco.
He brings financial planning experience, as well as relationship management skills to the practice. He is licensed for both insurance and investments.
Prior to his financial planning career, Johnson was an associate pastor at Grace Bible Church, in Cohoes. He studied theology and psychology at Bob Jones University.

Potter comes to ADKtechs with 20 years of experience in the education and banking industries on an enterprise level. The Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce will kick-off of the ARCC women’s business council with a meeting 7:30-8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, at Rachel’s Spice Cafe & Co., 240 Warren St., Glens Falls.
The purpose of the council is to promote the affinity group of women-owned businesses, sole proprietorships, and women professional members of the ARCC to encourage increased business and collaboration among its ranks.
This is an introductory/informational meeting for women to attend and learn more about the council.
