The Adirondack Thunder partnered with Associates of Glens Falls Insurance (AOGF) and Loomis & LaPann Inc. to donate $2,750 to the Moreau Community Center’s backpack program.
AOGF and Loomis & LaPann agreed to donate $25 for every Thunder home goal scored in the 2018-2019 regular season.
Adirondack scored 110 goals at home this season. The Thunder have now contributed more than $5,600 to the backpack program over the past two seasons.

A program that offers free transportation assistance to individuals in Warren and Washington counties who have had recent health issues has launched.

O’Brien Insurance in Glens Falls is offering free road safety yard signs to local residents.
The signs say “Drive Like Your Kids Live Here” and are intended to reduce unsafe driving behaviors on busy streets and in neighborhoods where there are children. As spring continues and with summer right around the corner, children will begin playing outside more.

The Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce will kick-off of the ARCC women’s business council with a meeting 7:30-8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, at Rachel’s Spice Cafe & Co., 240 Warren St., Glens Falls.
The purpose of the council is to promote the affinity group of women-owned businesses, sole proprietorships, and women professional members of the ARCC to encourage increased business and collaboration among its ranks.
This is an introductory/informational meeting for women to attend and learn more about the council.

The North Warren Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for its annual VIP and Business of the Year Awards.
Nominations are due to the Chamber by April 26 and can be sent via email or postal service.

The Adirondack Thunder hockey team, ECHL affiliate of the New Jersey Devils playing at Cool Insuring Arena, has donated $17,950 to Special Olympics.
The donation came from the post-game jersey auction after a Law Enforcement Appreciation night at Cool Insuring Arena. This amount is the largest donation in Adirondack Thunder history. The specialty jerseys were purchased and donated by the Sheriff’s Offices of Washington, Saratoga and Rensselaer counties.
Conor Riley’s Law Enforcement Appreciation jersey sold for a team-high $1,500 in the auction, while captain James Henry’s and goaltender Alex Sakellaropoulos’ jerseys also topped the four-digit plateau.

Zobel & Co. Kitchens has won “Best Of Service” on Houzz, an online platform for home renovation and design.
This is the fifth year in a row that Zobel & Co. Kitchens, 11 Broad St., Glens Falls, has won the award. The firm, specializing in custom kitchen design and cabinetry, was chosen by the more than 40 million monthly unique users that comprise the Houzz community from among more than 2.1 million active home building, remodeling and design industry professionals.
The Best Of Houzz badge is awarded annually. The customer service award honors are based on several factors, including the professional’s overall rating and client reviews.

In honor of the 12th annual International Networking Week, BNI Upstate New York will host an open event for business professionals at Hyatt Place Malta in Malta on Feb. 5 at 7 a.m.

The cost is $10 and provides attendees the opportunity to network with other professionals in the area while learning the potential benefits of referral marketing on their businesses.

It will feature networking activities over coffee. Throughout the morning, attendees will have the opportunity to meet other members of the local business community, exchange information and begin building new relationships, while practicing valuable networking skills.

The Adirondack Thunder raised $16,220 that will be donated to three local charities through its Military Appreciation Night jersey auction  during a recent game at Cool Insuring Arena.

 The Thunder donned red, white and blue American flag-themed jerseys for Military Appreciation Night, sponsored by UA Local 773 on Oct. 26. After the conclusion of the game, each game-worn jersey went into a live auction with bids coming from fans in attendance. 

The $16,220 raised was the most of any jersey auction in franchise history, team officials said

The donation will be split between the Ben Osborn Memorial Fund, Operation at Ease and the VFW Post 2475 Emergency Relief Fund. Each group will be presented with a check at a later date.

O’Brien’s Angels, a charitable community project backed by O’Brien Insurance of Glens Falls, recently made a $2,000 donation to Glens Falls City School District to battle child hunger.
