Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Co.
named Cliff Sequin, chairman and founder
of Operation Adopt A Soldier, the grand
marshal for the 34th annual South Glens
Falls Holiday Parade on Nov. 24.
Sequin started the Wilton-based organization
in 2003 as a way to support local
troops. Since its inception, Operation Adopt
A Soldier has sent more than 200,000 care
packages to troops stationed overseas and
has grown its mailing list to between 400
and 600 soldiers.
The nonprofit also greets returning
soldiers at the airport, sends cards and
letters to wounded soldiers recovering
abroad, runs a family support group, visits
the Albany VA Hospital and adopts military
families for the holidays.
Sequin will join many floats, bands and marchers to kick off this year’s “Winter Wonderland” themed parade at 1 p.m. on the Sunday before Thanksgiving.
Toys for Tots and the Tri-County United Way will again serve as parade beneficiaries, and spectators are encouraged to bring nonperishable food or new, unwrapped toys to the event. Donations may also be dropped off at any Glens Falls National Bank location during regular business hours.
A longstanding tradition, the Holiday Parade generally attracts more than 100 entries. It has been sponsored by Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Co. since 2009. For more information on the parade or to sign up, visit hamelresources.com.
