The Adirondack Business Council of the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce (ARCC) will hold its annual Business of the Year awards breakfast 7:30-9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, at the Fort William Henry Resort, 48 Canada St., Lake George.
The ARCC Business of the Year Awards has been a 20-plus year tradition of honoring some of the best businesses in the region. The council annually recognizes deserving Chamber members for their achievements in business and their economic and quality of life contributions to the area.
Businesses have been nominated by ARCC members in seven categories. The council then goes through a thorough process of researching and interviewing the nominated businesses to see what makes theirs the most deserving, council officials said.
Nominees were announced for the following six categories:
For the Steven M. Sutton Small Business of the Year award (established business with 2-50 employees): Adirondack Technical Solutions, Country Side Veterinary Practice, Davidson Brothers Brewing Co., Martha’s Dandee Crème, Parker Machine Co., Scoville Jewelers and the VMJR Companies.
Large Business of the Year (businesses with 51 or more employees): The Sagamore Resort/ Ocean Properties, West Mountain Ski Area and Jaeger & Flynn Associates. Rookie Business of the Year (business es in existence for three years or less, with 2-50 employees): Adirondack Skydiving Adventures and Kingpin’s Alley Family Fun Center. Independent Business of the Year (individually owned and operated businesses with no employees, and not supported or backed by a corporation or franchise): Kendall & Associates and Stomachcakes.
Professional Business of the Year (established licensed professionals with 2-50 employees): Bartlett, Pontiff, Stewart & Rhodes, H&R Block – Warrensburg Office and North Country Sports Medicine.
Healthy Workplace of the Year (established businesses that demonstrates a commitment to supporting the health and well-being of its employees): Associates of Glens Falls, Family YMCA of the Glens Falls Area and Genpak.
Nonprofit Business of the Year (a new category for nonprofit 501 (c) 3 businesses whose organization mission is reflective of community needs and has demonstrated outstanding contributions to the community’s quality of life): Charles R. Wood Theater, Adirondack Ballet Theater, Community, Work & Independence (CWI), Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Southern Adirondack and Hudson Headwaters Health Network.
To celebrate the nominees and award recipients an “Oscar’s-style” awards breakfast will be held. The fee is $25 for ARCC members and $30 per person for non-members.
