Hometown Health Centers, a medical
and dental facility, announced that Eric
Burton of Glens Falls was promoted to
chief operating officer.
Burton, who previously served as chief
financial officer, will oversee day-to-day
operations, create operations strategy and
policies, and communicate strategy and
policy to employees.
Before joining Hometown Health Centers
in 2009, Burton spent eight years as
the chief financial officer for the Hudson
Headwaters Health Network, a federally
qualified health center comprising 12 clinical
locations at that time. In that capacity
he oversaw accounting, accounts payable,
payroll, budgeting, reimbursement, and
financial analysis.
Prior to that, he served as both director of
finance and controller at Cambridge-based
McClellan Health System, as well as director
of claims at HUM Healthcare Systems
in Glens Falls. Burton began his career as a
claims examiner at Empire Blue Cross and
Blue Shield in Albany.

Jordan Blackwood, M.D., a boardcertified
cardiovascular disease specialist,
has joined the staff of Adirondack Cardiology,
a service of Glens Falls Hospital.
Also, area nurse practitioner Aimee Mc-
Master has joined the staff of Wilton Family
Medicine, a service of Glens Falls Hospital.
Dr. Blackwood previously served as
consultant – cardiovascular education and
research with Danbury Hospital in Danbury,
Conn. Prior to that, he served as chief fellow,
cardiology, at Danbury Hospital.
He received his bachelor’s degree from
Emory University in Atlanta, and earned his
Doctor of Medicine from Morehouse School
of Medicine in Atlanta. He completed his
residency in internal medicine at St. Luke’s
Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City,
where he was also junior attending physician.
Blackwood completed his fellowship in
cardiovascular disease at Danbury Hospital.
McMaster has practiced at a number
of medical offices in the Saratoga, Glens
Falls and Albany areas in a 25-year career
as a nurse, clinical manager and nurse
practitioner. She earned a bachelor’s degree
in nursing from Russell Sage College;
a master’s of science in nursing from Sage
Graduate School; and post-master’s certificates
in nursing administration from Villanova
University and as an acute cure nurse
practitioner from Sage Graduate School.
She also earned a certificate in wound
ostomy care and continence education from
Albany Medical Center.

Adirondack Health Institute (AHI) in
Glens Falls promoted six staff members into
newly-created positions.
Anne-Marie FitzGerald, RD, MSEd,
was promoted to the position of evaluation
manager. FitzGerald, formerly a data
specialist for Community Health Services
at AHI, will be responsible for leading a
number of program evaluation projects by
working with AHI colleagues and partner
organizations to design, develop, and implement
process and outcome evaluations.
She will identify, analyze, synthesize and
present data to identify needs, measure
performance and drive decision-making.
FitzGerald earned a Bachelor of Science
degree in dietetics from Syracuse University,
a Master of Science degree in education
from the SUNY Potsdam, and a graduate
certificate in Public Health Programs and
Policy from the SUNY Albany School of
Public Health.
Caitlyn Huntington, MPH, CHES,
was promoted to the position of telemedicine
project coordinator. Huntington, formerly
an education and outreach specialist
with AHI’s Health Insurance Enrollment
Assistance Services and Education (EASE)
program, will be responsible for engaging
multiple hospital leadership teams and
other providers from various settings to
advance telehealth implementation across
a six-plus county region.
Huntington earned a Bachelor of Technology
degree from SUNY Canton, and a
Master of Public Health degree from the
SUNY Albany School of Public Health.
Phil Kahn, MS, was promoted to communications
coordinator. Kahn, formerly
an education and outreach specialist and
communications coordinator for AHI’s
Health Insurance Enrollment Assistance
Services and Education (EASE) program,
will collaborate with internal and external
team members to enhance stakeholder
awareness of AHI.
Kahn earned a Bachelor of Arts degree
in mass communications and a Master of
Science degree in teaching from SUNY
Plattsburgh.
Kelly Owens, MS, was promoted to
workforce manager, health system transformation.
Owens, formerly the interim center
director for the Hudson Mohawk Area
Health Education Center (HMAHEC), a
partner organization of AHI, will be responsible
for implementation of Delivery System
Reform Incentive Payment (DSRIP)-funded
workforce initiatives.
She will work with project teams of providers,
community-based partners and other
stakeholders in nine counties to achieve
project goals and milestones. She will also
work with various workforce vendors on
recruitment, training, re-training and redeployment
activities, develop and monitor
work plans, and utilize project management
systems to track and report progress.
Owens earned a Bachelor of Arts degree
in gerontology from St. John Fisher College,
and a Master of Science degree in health
Services Administration from Sage Graduate
School.
Jill Rock, BS, was promoted to project
manager, Delivery System Reform Incentive
Payment (DSRIP) program. Rock, formerly
an education and outreach specialist with
AHI’s Health Insurance Enrollment Assistance
Services and Education (EASE)
program, will be responsible for managing
innovative health care redesign projects
undertaken by a network of providers and
community-based partners spread across a
nine-county region.
She will work with regional project
teams, develop and monitor work plans,
and utilize project management systems
for tracking and reporting purposes. Rock
earned a Bachelor of Science degree in community
health from SUNY Potsdam.
Courtney Shaler Smith, BA, was promoted
to manager, Adirondack Rural Health
Network (ARHN). Shaler-Smith, formerly
the network coordinator for Community
Health Services at AHI, will oversee ARHN,
a program of AHI that covers a seven-county
region.
Shaler Smith attended Herkimer County
Community College and earned an Associate
degree in Applied Science to become a
licensed physical therapist assistant. She
later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in
leadership and business from the College
of St. Joseph.
