Glens Falls Hospital is undergoing a major expansion in orthopedic and surgical services for the region. 

Privately-owned North Country Orthopedics has joined the Glens Falls Hospital Medical Group and is now an employed physician practice of Glens Falls Hospital, officials said.

The surgeons and physician assistants from North Country Orthopedics will be collaborating with Glens Falls Hospital’s Orthopedic Specialists of Glens Falls. 

Members joining Dr. Thomas Varney, and Jordan Haskins, PA-C  are Dr. Mark Kircher; Dr.  Doug Kirkpatrick; Dr.  Andre Johnson; Dr. Adam Brod; Dr. Michael Rozell; Richard Robertson, PA-C; Patrick McDermott, PA-C; James Todt, PA-C; Christopher Stephens, PA-C; Laura Gosnell, PA-C; Jameel Ali, PA-C ; Adria Newberry, PA-C; and Tara Manny, PA-C. 

The Chazen Companies has moved its North Country office to a new and larger location in Glens Falls.

Company officials said the move is a result of rapid company growth. The new office is located at the historic building that was once Clark Brothers Glove Factory, also known as The Mill, at 20 Elm St.

Chazen opened its North Country office in Glens Falls in 2000 and moved to Queensbury 13 years later in 2013. During its current period of growth and expansion, Chazen is returning to Glens Falls at a new location downtown to accommodate its increasing success, the company said.

Chazen’s new was created in 1920 and was once considered one of the largest glove-making facilities in upstate New York. The factory served as the largest employer in the city during the first half of the 20th century. It operated until 1968.

New York state has $5 million available as part of the first rebate designed specifically for the installation of electric vehicle charging stations at workplaces, office buildings, multi-family apartment buildings, and public locations such as theaters, malls, parks and retail locations.

The installation of charging stations for public use supports the state’s clean energy goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40 percent by 2030.

“New York continues to lead the nation in reducing our carbon footprint by aggressively investing in clean transportation methods,” Gov.  Andrew Cuomo said. “By expanding public access to electric vehicle charging stations, this program will make it more affordable for New Yorkers to make the switch to an environmentally friendly electric vehicle, resulting in a cleaner, greener New York for all.”

The  Small Business Association’s Syracuse District announced that Adirondack Trust Co., Saratoga National Bank and TD Bank were among the top performers in the Capital Region.

SBA Regional Director Bernard J. Paprocki released the fiscal year 2018 lending report, with 670 7(a) and 504 loan approvals valued at $177 million across the 34-county Syracuse district.

“Small businesses in Upstate New York are accessing the affordable capital they need to start and expand with SBA-backed loans,” he said.

Paprocki said Adirondack Trust and Saratoga National Bank had the highest number of 7(a) approvals in their respective categories based on asset size.

TD Bank was the top Capital Region large commercial lender, with 29 loans at a value of $7.5 million.

Cool Insuring Arena has entered into a two-year agreement with Upstate Chevy Dealers to rebrand the box office to the Upstate Chevy Dealers Box Office at Cool Insuring Arena.

“We’re proud to partner with a great member of our community in the Upstate Chevy Dealers as we are able to name our box office for the first time in its 39-year history,” Cool Insuring Arena General Manager Jeff Mead said. “We have seen mutual success with our sponsorship deals throughout the arena and hope to continue that success with the new naming of our box office.”

Upstate Chevy Dealers becomes the first sponsor of the building’s ticketing center since its inception in 1979. 

The two-year agreement will keep the dealership as the official sponsor of the box office through at least 2020. As part of its deal, Upstate Chevy has updated and rebranded the outside area of the box office.
