Seasoned, SUNY Adirondack’s student-run restaurant, resumed service for the college’s spring semester starting Feb. 12.
The restaurant, located in the SUNY Adirondack Culinary Arts Center at 14 Hudson Ave. in Glens Falls, offers lunch and dinner service on Wednesdays and Thursdays through April 23.
The services are open to the public.
Leadership Adirondack Class Sets Up Scholarship To Help Get People Into Trades
The Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce (ARCC) Leadership Adirondack (LADK) Class of 2019-2020 hosted a fundraising event in December that raised over $26,000 to provide a scholarship program to help increase the number of skilled trade workers in the region.
Each year, the Leadership Adirondack class creates a project that supports the mission of the Chamber–to help local companies succeed, grow, and thrive and to expand the economic opportunity in the region.
Two Speakers Set For EDC Annual Economic Outlook Breakfast At The Queensbury Hotel

EDC Warren County will hold its annual economic outlook breakfast on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the Queensbury Hotel, 88 Ridge St., Glens Falls.
There will be a review of economy with two regional experts. EDC said they will address issues such as: What will the new year bring for the region’s medical device sector? What legislative action will impact New York businesses this year?
Speakers will be Heather C. Briccetti, Esq., president and CEO of the Business Council Of New York State Inc.; and Jim Clemmer, president and CEO of AngioDynamic.
Registration for the event will begin at 7:45 a.m. The breakfast will ensue at 8 a.m.

Briccetti joined the Business Council in 2007, as vice president of government affairs, overseeing the organization’s legislative and pro-growth agendas. She holds a juris doctorate degree from Albany Law School.
‘Craft On Wheels’ Provides Craft Beers And Bartenders For Catering At Special Events

Business partners Jim Murphy, Erin Murphy and Connor Neal have started a mobile craft beverage service based in Glens Falls, serving the Capital Region and North Country.
Craft on Wheels is a mobile bar company utilizing vintage vehicles to bring craft beers, ciders and wines to serve at special events like weddings, corporate functions, private parties, festivals, and the like.
Jim Murphy has lived in Glens Falls for 14 years. In addition to partnering on the Craft on Wheels venture, Murphy is currently the director of marketing and corporate relations at Proctors Theater, and the publisher of regional arts magazine The Collaborative.
Stewart’s Shops Buys Gasoline Distribution Business, Eyes More Future Diversification

Stewart’s Shops has acquired an area gasoline and diesel distribution business that will allow it to distribute gasoline from Sunoco, Citgo and Mobil to dealers located in some of its coverage area in upstate New York.
The local company acquired the distributorship from Polsniello Fuels, a 68-year-old third-generation company in Rensselaer.
Stewart’s said it plans to continue working with dealers who previously did business with Polsinello, and is considering a remodel for some of the acquired gas stations.
“As we continue to grow our business, this acquisition gives us the opportunity to diversify by expanding deeper into the fuel wholesale business,” said Stewart’s Shops President Gary Dake in a news release.
Polsinello now will focus on its lubricant and motor oil supply business. Lou Polsinello, company vice president, said in a release that the business will continue to deal in lubricants and motor oil distribution, and that dropping out of the gasoline retail business will help them to grow in those other areas.
Officials Say 140,704 Chowder Samples Sold At 22nd Annual Saratoga Chowderfest

Organizers of the 22nd annual Saratoga Chowderfest held om Feb. 1 said 93 vendors participated, including 11 first-time contestants.
According to Discover Saratoga officials, some 140,704 bowls of chowder were served and over 30,000 people attended the event in downtown Saratoga Springs and at various outlying venues.
Event-goers sampled a variety of chowder from participating vendors for $1 and voted for their favorite.
Winners were chosen in 10 different categories, which was announced at the Saratoga Springs Heritage Area Visitor Center during the annual award ceremony.
State Adds Another $9.4 Million To Fund Lake George Wastewater Infrastructure Upgrades

New York state will provide an additional $9.4 million in grants to the Village of Lake George to repair and upgrade its wastewater collection infrastructure to help preserve the water quality and natural beauty of Lake George.
The $9.4 million will be provided by the state in addition to a $3 million Water Infrastructure Improvement Act grant and a DEC-funded $2.5 million Water Quality Improvement Project grant, filling a budget gap in the project and bringing total state investment to $14.9 million.
The remaining cost of the project will be covered by a zero-interest loan from the Environmental Facilities Co., officials said. The investment will result in a total savings to village taxpayers of nearly $25 million.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo said the state “is leading the way in protecting water quality, which is why the state is investing a historic $3 billion dollars to help municipalities address these challenges head-on.”
EDC Warren County President/CEO Ed Bartholomew said, “Lake George is a crown jewel of New York’s many beautiful lakes and waterways.

$4.6 Million In REDC Grants Go To Warren, Washington County Projects

Some 29 projects in Warren and Washington counties received a total of nearly $4.6 million from New York state as part of this year’s Regional Economic Development Council grant program.
More than $761 million in economic and community development funding was awarded through Round IX of the REDC initiative statewide.
Since its inception in 2011, over $6.9 billion has been awarded to more than 8,300 projects that are projected to create and retain more than 240,000 jobs statewide through the REDC process, state officials said.
Group Forms ‘Promote Fort Edward’ Organization To Foster Business Growth

Fort Edward’s Chamber of Commerce recently rebranded itself as Promote Fort Edward.
Promote Fort Edward is a membership organization that exists to increase business in the village’s historic downtown, officials said. The goal is to build a thriving business district that will be attractive to both new business owners and consumers.
According to Tammy Mullen, owner of Crafted on the Park, the idea to establish Promote Fort Edward evolved organically.
She said Tom Roche, Fort Edward School Board of Education president and owner of Barb and Tom’s Pop-Up Grill, was instrumental in its formation.
