Personnel Briefs: March 2021

Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Co. announced that Catherine Gilligan has joined the bank as mortgage loan officer for Washington and northern Rensselaer counties.

Based in the Salem Office, Gilligan will assume the duties of guiding clients through the mortgage application process.

She has more than 25 years of experience in banking and residential mortgage lending.

Gilligan currently serves as president for the Hoosick Falls Kiwanis Club and is a foundation board member for The Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hoosick Falls.

Originally from Lebanon Springs, N.Y., she currently lives in Bennington, Vt.

Associates of Glens Falls Insurance announced the hiring of its newest commercial lines account manager, Karen Wilkins.

Wilkins holds a New York State Insurance Agents’ license and has been an active member of the local insurance community for over seven years, acting as both a commercial and personal lines account manager.

She has earned her certified insurance service representative (CISR) designation and is a licensed notary public.

Mrs. Wilkins has three children and lives in Whitehall with her husband.

Jessica E. Stover, Esq., a former partner of The Towne Law Firm, and Christine E. Taylor, a former associate, have both been named as principal partners of the firm.
Stover is in charge of the firm’s Saratoga Springs office location.
Before moving to Saratoga Springs in 2007, Stover attended Union College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. She went on to Syracuse University School of Law, where she received her J.D. degree. She also obtained an L.L.M. in Real Property Development from the University of Miami School of Law.
Stover’s real estate law services include both residential and commercial purchase and sales, leases, bank representation, homeowners’ associations/condo associations; title examination and title insurance law, and estate planning.
Taylor joined the firm in 2018 and has refined her practice to focus primarily on the hospitality industry, serving clients across the entire northeast as well as nationally.
Taylor, originally planning to focus her career on entertainment law, attended UCLA School of Law where she received her J.D. degree.
A former professional opera singer, she began her career working with a variety of production companies and movie stations. She ultimately returned to Upstate New York where she transitioned to providing comprehensive legal services to various small businesses, with a specific focus on campgrounds and RV parks.

David R. Evanson, John F. Kouton and Nicole Hallberg collectively bring decades of marketing communications experience in financial communications, public affairs and content marketing to clients seeking to leverage sustainability as a driver for growth, the company said.
The company also announced its first client, Soho Waterworks, a Brooklyn-based start-up water distributor.

The Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce (ARCC) welcomed two new team members. Joining the ARCC team are Carol Ann Conover in member services and Karen Mattison as finance manager.
Conover, a South Jersey native, has a professional background spanning multiple business sectors. She began in health care as a nurse’s aide at ACMC through college and went on to become an administrator for a comprehensive cardiac facility by the age of 25 before relocating to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where she began her writing career with a small local paper.
She authored several regular feature columns and she has written food and travel columns and reviews for several newspapers and online journals.
She has worked in hospitality at Davidson Brothers in Glens Falls and most recently The Queensbury Hotel. She has served at the Glens Falls Farmer’s Market with Dickinson’s Delights, and has been an active fundraiser, most recently for the Great Cycle Challenge benefiting Children’s Cancer Charities.
She also operates a freelance writing and social media and marketing business.
Mattison, owner of Busy Bee Bookkeeping, LLC, earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the College of St. Joseph after which she worked for a local CPA firm for 13 years. In 2018, she started her own business and obtained her IRS enrolled agent designation in 2019.

Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Co. announced the promotion of Kristi Manning to branch manager/officer of its Northway Exit 18 branch in Stewart’s Plaza.
The bank also announced the appointment of John VanNatten as regional market leader for the Adirondack Region.
In her role as branch manager, Manning will oversee branch operations and develop banking relationships with business and personal customers.
She started with the bank in June 2003 as a travelling teller, and was promoted in July 2019 to assistant branch manager of the Broad Street branch.
Manning currently serves as treasurer for the South Queensbury Volunteer Fire Co. and Auxiliary. Originally from the South Glens Falls area, she currently lives in Hudson Falls.
VanNatten will oversee the Essex and Clinton county market areas for the bank. The position interacts with all lines of business in the region including retail branches and the business development teams.

Mannix Marketing announced the addition of Cameron Cardinale to Mannix Marketing as a social media intern for GlensFalls.com.
Cardinale was hired as a social media intern in June, working closely with Liz Sutton, the social media manager at Mannix Marketing.
He drives traffic to local businesses through Instagram and is starting the first Glens Falls TikTok and Reel channels. His goal is to market fun things to do in the Glens Falls region to the next generation.

Advokate LLC in Glens Falls design and marketing firm, announced the hiring of Angela Nardin of Glens Falls as a graphic designer.
Nardin is a graduate of SUNY Adirondack with a media arts degree and also has a music degree from SUNY Adirondack.
She joined the company as an intern in April and was hired in the last week of May. She was a student ambassador at SUNY Adirondack, president of the Glens Falls High School Drama Club, designed the GFHS prom T-shirts and tickets, was president of the Glens Falls High School Octet, earned a scholarship when she won first place at Glens Falls’ senior art show.
Nardin was on the Dean’s List for all of her semesters of college. She previously was employed at Best Buy.

Laurie Guyon, WSWHE BOCES assistant coordinator for model schools, was among five educators chosen nationwide by CoSN and EdScoop for the 2020 NextGen: Emerging EdTech Leaders Program.
Selection was based on their personal essays and the diversity of the populations they serve, among other criteria. CoSN said the designation goes to leaders with the hands-on experience and vision needed to ensure that technology makes a profound difference in education.

The Lake Champlain-Lake George Regional Planning Board announced that Andrea Harwood Palmer has joined the organization as the economic development coordinator for Warren, Washington, Essex, Clinton and Hamilton counties.
Palmer will oversee the Revolving Loan Fund program, working with business owners and partnering with commercial lenders in the region.
Palmer brings 12 years of experience in the finance sector. She is a former small business owner.

StoredTech has announced the addition of four new employees.
Bill Craver has 20 years of IT business experience and holds sales and technical certifications in VMware, Veeam, Fortinet, Cisco, HPE, AWS, NetApp and Extreme Networks. He will be responsible for new business development as an account executive based at the StoredTech office in Albany.
Tim Mallon has over 23 years experience in the IT industry beginning in the 1990s with “white box” manufacturers in Greene County and for the past 13 years in the MSP field in the Albany area. Mallon joins StoredTech as a senior MSP engineer in the Albany office.
Eva Richard, a U.S. Air Force veteran specializing in communications, brings 20 years of IT experience working with medium to enterprise firms. Richard joins StoredTech as a systems engineer in the Plattsburgh office.
